Every day, Hong Kong sends 3,353 tonnes of food waste to landfills, with 68% from our homes. But it doesn’t have to end there—food waste can be transformed into something extraordinary!
Join our workshop with Ways Out Hong Kong at the Barn in DX design hub to transform 'zero-value' fruit peels or vegetable scraps into unique jewelry. Dive into the inspiring stories behind each piece, experience the joy of upcycling waste into treasure, and explore the endless possibilities of sustainable materials.
About Ways Out Hong Kong
Ways Out HK was founded by Alison, Coco, and Peggy together. They noticed the roots of the food waste issue in Hong Kong were the low awareness of the people of the city, and the absence of food waste management policy. They creating food waste jewelry as a NUDGE to provoke behavior change in food waste reduction, and to engage less-resourced communities, in particular underprivileged women, in the process. Through public education, they empower young single mothers with employment and training opportunities, guiding them towards recognizing their own worth and values.
