Kumiko is a traditional Japanese woodworking technique. In this craft, pieces of wood are intricately joined together using precise angles and pressure, creating classic patterns such as Asanoha, Goma, Shippo, and Rindo. Every shaving and polish is a tribute to detail, and a quiet dialogue between the artisan and nature. 

Burumu Carpentry, an award-winner from the “Top 10 Artisans Award”, is bringing the Kumiko Wood Workshop to The Fashion-Pop at DX design hub. In this workshop, participants will learn about the history and cultural background of Kumiko, get hands-on experience using basic hand tools, and practice the shaving and fitting techniques of Kumiko. Participants may assemble 2 classics patterns of your choice, creating your one-of-a-kind Kumiko coasters.
