bodw Future Lab is a close-format platform for industry exchange ahead of, and alongside, Business of Design Week 2026. The next pre-Summit session, The Semiotic Advantage: How Future-Ready Brands Speak to Culture, looks at how people read brands, and how design choices shape meaning across cultures.
When everyone uses the same design language, how can a brand still mean something distinctive?
People form brand impressions in seconds. As AI speeds up content production and visual trends travel faster, a distinctive message is harder to hold. This session treats commercial semiotics as a practical framework. Through real cases and joint exploration, participants learn to read cultural signals, avoid unintended meanings, and turn abstract brand values into design choices people recognise and trust.
The session is for business leaders, marketers, brand strategists, designers and innovation professionals.
Speakers and moderator
Summit sessions on empathetic spaces, global shifts and cross-cultural longevity run on the afternoons of 18 to 20 November, alongside the BODW Summit at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
