Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) was founded in 2001 as a strategic partner of the HKSAR Government in establishing Hong Kong as a centre of design excellence in Asia. Responsibilities: 

  1. Report to Director of Business Development and Projects/Senior Project Manager in leading and managing the team to deliver HKDC's annual design activation programme in the city: DESIGN@HKG;
  2. Responsible for the planning, organisation, execution and delivery of DESIGN@HKG programmes (and other special projects as required) on time and within budget – including and not limited to the undertaking of effective partner and design unit engagement, project and event management, budgetary planning and control, timely reporting, compliance with corporate governance policies, liaison with funder, assessment of outcomes and impact of the related activities;
  3. Build on valuable experience and lessons learnt from previous editions of BODW CityProg and BODW In the City;
  4. Working closely with the CorpComm team to promote the programme effectively, from strategy to delivery;
  5. Where appropriate, conceive and launch new initiatives, funding application, pitching projects, pitching sponsorship and partnership, and build international networks covering the Chinese Mainland and overseas, including past, current and potential future BODW partner countries;
  6. Build and maintain productive relationships within and across teams covering programming, partnership, marketing and communications, and a wide range of stakeholders to manage expectations and ensure highly quality learning and engaging experience;
  7. Build and maintain connections with the event and exhibition industry, fostering good links with international service providers, agencies and business partners; and,
  8. Perform ad hoc assignments as required

 

Requirements:

  1. University degree or above or equivalent in design, cultural management, event/exhibition management, marketing, government relations are preferred.
  2. At least 10 years’ post-graduation relevant work experience in programmes related to design, arts and cultural education, brand development, event & exhibition, and/or government relations; with at least 5 years’ experience in a team leadership role with good coaching skills, global horizons and ability to navigate complexity in an innovation setting;
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English & Chinese (including Putonghua);
  4. Strong project management skills with experience in managing international projects. Creative leadership, integrity, negotiation skills, and problem-solving skills;
  5. Experience in hybrid & virtual event, digital media, digital marketing, digital portal development, and networking and partnership;
  6. Previous experience in creative agencies, international media and art and design related programmes is preferrable;
  7. Excellent presentation skills;
  8. A keen learner with multi-tasking, self-starter and team player with enterprising creativity, good research and problem-solving ability, creative confidence, an inquisitive mind to inspire learning, participation and collaboration among diverse stakeholder communities;
  9. A professional with accountability to meet statutory, industry code of conduct and internal reporting and compliance requirements;
  10. Good sensibility to design, trends and technology will be a clear advantage; and,
  11. Proficiency in MS Office and Chinese Word Processing is essential. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and ability to integrate AI input into workflow is an advantage.
