Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) was founded in 2001 as a strategic partner of the HKSAR Government in establishing Hong Kong as centre of design excellence in Asia. We are on a public mission to promote wider and strategic use of design and design thinking to foster innovation, create business value and improve societal well-being.

The Roles:

  1. Work with Director - Innovation & Design Knowledge and partners to develop the Centre’s annual flagship knowledge conferences: Business of Design Week, Knowledge of Design Week, and bodw+ design knowledge platform;
  2. Lead the team by strategic project management, event development and management, industry networking and sponsorship;
  3. Prudent budget control and handling the financial plan;
  4. Able to network with partners, sponsors and speakers from local, the Mainland and overseas countries;
  5. Work with TV broadcaster for programme production and video production
  6. Perform ad hoc assignments as required; &

Requirements:

  1. University graduate or above;
  2. At least 8 years post-graduation work experience; with at least 3 years’ experience in a team leadership role with good coaching skills, global horizons and ability to navigate complexity in an innovation setting;  Experience in corporate communication, international event management and advertising agency is preferred;
  3. Competent narrative, communications and language skills. Strong English writing skills is a must;
  4. With strong leadership and project management skills, with passion and committment to deliver high standard programme;
  5. A keen learner, self-motivated and collaborative team player showing problem-solving ability; Possessing an inquisitive mind, creative confidence and tact that encourage learning, engagement and collaboration among diverse stakeholder communities;
  6. Demonstrates a good understanding of design, culture and trends;
  7. Experience in launching new initiatives and undertaking effective project management adhering to governance standards, ensuring positive outcomes and impact; 
  8. Exhibits a strong sense of urgency and maintain high performance under tight timelines; &
  9. A professional with accountability that meets statutory, industry code of conduct and internal reporting and compliance requirements.
