Role Overview
The Manager (Programme & Engagement) is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the DX design hub’s signature events, community engagement initiatives, and public workshops. This role bridges the gap between strategic vision and execution, ensuring that all programmes are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. The incumbent will act as the central coordinator, managing stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams to create impactful experiences that resonate with the local community and the broader design ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
- Project Management & Programme Delivery
- Lead and manage the end-to-end execution of assigned signature events, community engagement projects, and design workshops, ensuring alignment with the hub’s strategic objectives;
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and logistical frameworks, tracking progress against milestones to ensure timely and successful delivery.
- Signature Events Coordination
- Oversee the operational planning of major signature events, acting as the key liaison between curatorial, marketing, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of all elements;
- Coordinate with external partners, venues, and suppliers regarding event setup, staging, audiovisual requirements, and guest management.
- Community Engagement & Outreach
- Plan and implement community-focused programmes and activities that foster inclusivity and connect the DX design hub with local neighbourhoods, schools, and interest groups;
- Identify and build relationships with community partners, NGOs, and grassroots organisations to co-create meaningful engagement opportunities.
- Workshops & Public Programmes
- Manage the scheduling, resourcing, and delivery of public workshops and educational activities, ensuring they meet the needs of diverse audience segments;
- Coordinate with facilitators, designers, and speakers to develop content that is both engaging and aligned with current design trends.
- Stakeholder & Partner Liaison
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project-specific collaborators, vendors, and contractors, ensuring clear communication and adherence to agreements;
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with local, GBA, and overseas partners involved in programme delivery.
- Budget & Resource Management
- Assist in the formulation of project budgets, monitoring expenditures and ensuring programmes are delivered in a cost-effective manner.
- Onsite Event Management
- Provide strong onsite leadership during events and activities, troubleshooting issues in real-time to ensure a smooth and professional experience for participants and guests.
- Content Development & Research
- Contribute to the development of content for workshops, talks, and engagement activities, ensuring relevance and high-quality output;
- Conduct research on emerging design trends and audience preferences to inform future programming.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare post-programme reports, including assessments of outcomes, impact, and audience feedback;
- Assist in developing documentation and papers for internal senior management meetings and funding bodies.
- General
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties as required to ensure the success of the project and the bub’s programming goals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Project Management, Cultural Studies, Design, Communications, or related disciplines;
- Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in project management, event coordination, or programme delivery, preferably within the design, arts, cultural or non-profit sectors;
- Outstanding command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua) to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders;
- Proven experience in signature events, community projects, or educational workshops from conception to completion;
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines;
- Experience in budget management and financial reporting;
- Proficiency in MS Office (Project, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools;
- A hands-on, problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail and a sense of ownership;
- Passion for design, arts, and community engagement with a good understanding of current cultural trends;
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and passion for the design industry (Shift duties will be required).
