Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) was founded in 2002 as a strategic partner of the HKSAR Government in establishing Hong Kong as centre of design excellence in Asia. We are now seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Project Manager to lead the planning and delivery of a major international design programme. Please visit our website www.hkdesigncentre.org for information of HKDC.

The Senior Project Manager will be working closely with the Programme Directors and will be responsible for the overall coordination and delivery of the programme, including judging, designer engagement, product development, exhibition production, stakeholder management, co-ordination of promotion and marketing.

The Roles:

  1. Coordinate all internal and external workstreams to ensure timely and effective delivery;

  2. Manage communications and working relationships with designers, judges, curators, partners, sponsors, venues, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders;

  3. Prepare briefing papers, presentations, reports, meeting notes, and approval documents for senior management and relevant committees;

  4. Coordinate designer communications, briefings, presentations, submissions, and programme requirements;

  5. Monitor progress against agreed deliverables, timelines, budgets, quality standards, and contractual requirements;

  6. Lead and provide onsite project management for the exhibition and related design programmes, including coordination with venues, designers, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams;

  7. Prepare final project documentation, evaluation findings, and reports upon completion of the programme;

  8. Working closely with HKDC Corporate Communications team and external marketing / PR agency, co-ordinate and manage promotional activities and initiatives.

Requirements:

  1. A university degree or equivalent professional qualification in design, arts and culture, creative industries, project management, business, communications, or a related discipline;

  2. A minimum of 8 years relevant professional experience, including at least 3-5 years in a team-leadership or project-leadership role;

  3. Proven experience in managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, budgets, contracts, production schedules, and public-facing outcomes;

  4. Strong team leadership, coaching, communication, and coordination skills;

  5. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Proficiency in Putonghua would be an advantage;

  6. A good understanding of design trends and a broad and diverse range of cultural interests;

  7. Strong project-management, problem-solving, decision-making, and organisational skills;

  8. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform effectively under pressure and tight deadlines;

  9. Strategic thinking, creative flair, and a proactive approach to project delivery.
