The ReD Workshops are configured as 6 themes, namely Industrial, Furniture & Lighting Design; Fashion & Accessories; Green Design; Industrial Design; Furniture Design and Fashion & Trends, with each providing intense participations and interactive learning. These interactive design workshops are conducted by experts from a variety of disciplines systematically to impart vital expertise, ensuring pertinent enhancement of design intelligence. Latest design approaches, critical knowledge, methods and theories will be thoroughly explored and discussed.
 
Workshop on 18 June 2009
I. Industrial, Furniture & Lighting Design
Full day Master Class conducted by Michele De Lucchi (09:00-18:00)
  This full day Master Class affords a rare glimpse into the illustrious workings and idiosyncrasies of renowned Italian architect and designer, Michele De Lucchi, with help from assistant Monica Del Torchio. Known for a prolific ethic and wonderfully inimitable approach that defies simple definition, De Lucchi will share, explore and discuss with participants the methods and theories he has practised in defining the designs of countless industrial, furniture, and lifestyle products.

II. Fashion Accessories Design
Section A - Half day workshop conducted by Rem D. Koolhaas (09:00-13:00)
  The workshop imparts critical knowledge and insights to help participants understand the complex requisites for establishing desirability as part of fashion & accessories design. Steeped in a wealth of design experience and disciplines, speaker of this workshop will introduce fresh, novel perspectives to redefine prejudices and creative preconceptions about the act of fashion & accessories.

  This revelatory morning and afternoon workshop dispels myths and misconceptions about Green Design and manufacturing by offering the latest design approaches and solutions in the use of bio-degradable and eco-friendly materials, recycling, as well as issues concerning carbon footprints. Participants learn Green Design best practises to ensure that the quest for commercial distinction can also become much more environmentally conscious.

IV. Industrial Design
Half day workshop conducted by Chiaki Murata (14:00-18:00)
  Thoroughly diverse, this half-day workshop covers all the quirks and complications that derive from personal principles, experience and insights accompanying its host of speaking experts. Beyond just the fundamentals, the programme comprehensively dissects and divulges about industrial design to give participants vital knowledge and comprehension to think and design beyond restrictive traditional notions.

V. Furniture Design
Section A - Half day workshop conducted by Eric Chan (09:00-13:00)
  Thoroughly diverse, this half-day workshop covers all the quirks and complications that derive from personal principles, experience and insights accompanying its host of speaking experts. Beyond just the fundamentals, the programme comprehensively dissects and divulges about industrial design to give participants vital knowledge and comprehension to think and design beyond restrictive traditional notions.

V. Furniture Design
Section B - Half day workshop conducted by Lo Chi Wing (14:00-18:00)
  Configured to reference the achievements of two internationally renowned Hong Kong designers, Eric Chan and Lo Chi Wing, this morning and afternoon workshop ponders winning approaches to furniture design. A notable feature of this programme will be the examination of how a dynamic mishmash of perspectives, local and international, can potentially serve as a source for inspiration. Both speakers will share knowledge, practises and the unique processes necessary for designing furniture that transcends the ordinary.

VI. Fashion & Trends
Section A - Half day workshop conducted by Mary Yan Yan Chan (09:00-13:00)
Section B - Full day workshop conducted by Sean Chiles, London College of Fashion (09:00-18:00)
  Aptly configured, this two part workshop begins by stressing the importance of meticulous consumer analysis, teaching about the latest and proper techniques needed to help designers best anticipate future trends in a variety of areas. Participants learn how to source their inspiration by reading between the lines, and create outcomes that lead instead of follow. The afternoon workshop, focused on fashion and apparel, dissects a whole range of issues, from trends about colour and material to the use of lateral thinking, to impart the most current research and techniques needed to stand out in today’s competitive fashion market.
